Hi. My name is Andrew Weltchek. I’m a partner at the law firm of Cohen, Hochman, and Allen. Today was a beautiful day. Thank goodness. I went to the grocery store. Who knew that was going to be the highlight of my week? I saw people masked but not bundled up. I’m getting my second vaccination shot next week. I am so grateful. But what’s going to happen next? What are we going to do? We’re coming on a year’s anniversary here.
Here’s what I hope. Everyone should get vaccinated. Everyone can get outside. We hope we’ll be able to see each other, see other people. But things will never be the same as before. What do I miss? Let’s talk about that. I miss people. Seeing them living, walking the streets, shopping, eating out, working, being in parks, being with each other. I even miss the trains. Really. What don’t I miss? Waiting on a boiling train platform, standing on a stalled train. I don’t miss those things. And in my practice as a lawyer, I don’t miss waiting in courtrooms with 50 other lawyers for an hour to see a judge for 15 minutes.
So what’s going to be different? Well, loved ones we lost will be in our hearts, but no longer here with us. And on a more mundane level zoom calls are here to stay. We will spend less time schlepping to meetings and more time working from home or other places. Now, will it be good? I certainly hope so. I hope we can all stay healthy and working.
I know that at Cohen, Hochman, and Allen, we will continue working hard to serve our clients. And we’re grateful for the chance to be of service. Thank you. My name is Andy Weltchek.
